Dear loyal Starlight Express rider,
In early April 2014 we moved our downtown arrival and departure point away from the Ix Project and over to the 800 block of West Main Street. The new location is the Charlottesville Area Transit, or CAT, bus stop at the top of the steps leading down to the Amtrak train station and across the street from Continental Divide and l'étoile restaurants. (To get directions on your favorite online map program, please plug in "808 W. Main, Charlottesville, VA".)
We believe the new site offers myriad advantages. For starters, its location amid the bustle of pubs and restaurants offers multiple dining options prior to our evening departures as well as providing a welcoming place to return during nighttime drop-offs. This central location is located on the routes of both the CAT #7 bus and the Free Trolley. Not only does the new stop put the Starlight Express within reasonable walking distance of large population centers, but the downtown bike lane runs directly to the front door of the bus. Finally, the new location provides pedestrian access to both the Greyhound and Amtrak stations, giving Starlight riders extra options to seamlessly modify or continue their trip.
Please note that if you choose to drive to the West Main Street location, any parking is arranged independently of Starlight Express and costs $10 per day via credit card kiosk located in the center of the Amtrak complex.
We hope you share our enthusiasm for these changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to give us a call at 434-295-0782.
Thanks for riding the Starlight Express!
